How do I use the data explorer?

Sometimes you want to analyze your data without having to build a permanent chart. However, if you have analyzed your data, and changed your mind on building a chart, you do not want to start all over again. This is where the data explorer comes in handy.

Step 1: Data Explorer

On the left-hand side of the page, go to ‘Reporting’ > ‘Data Explorer’.

Step 2: Choose your question elements

On the right side of the page, you can select the form you would like to use. Once you have selected your form, you can drag the preferred question elements to the centre of the page. For example, let's use GCR (Goal Completion Rate). For GCR, typically, you want to analyze three different values: Yes, Partially and No. Therefore, you have to select the same data series three times. Just click on this score three times, and you will see three labels of these series above your chart.

Step 3: Give your chart a (sub)title

In the top left corner, you can give your chart a (sub)title.

Step 4: Edit your chart

In the top right corner, under the tab ‘Series’, you can edit your graphs. Select the question element you want to edit. You can change the colour of your graph, the name of the question, data calculation, and choose whether you want to return the results as a percentage per data point. In our example, because we've selected the same 3 data series for the values: Yes, Partially, and No, you now need to choose a calculation for each data series.

So for the first data series > Goal Completion Rate: % Yes

The second data series > Goal Completion Rate: % Partially

The third data series > Goal Completion Rate: % No

You can also add filters to your data. Click on the ‘(+) ADD’ button within your chosen question element; you can select a field. For example, it can be linked with the browser type:

You can also add more filters at once.

In the same tab, you can change how you want to group your data and change options for your data.

Step 5: Choose a chart type

Under the tab ‘Type’, you can choose from seven different chart types.

Step 6: More options

You can edit your chart, axis and data labels under the ‘Options’ tab.

Step 7: Save

If you want to use your charts in the future, you first need to save your chart by clicking on the ‘Save’ button in the top-right corner. If you want to analyze your data, you need to click on ‘Reporting’ > ‘Dashboard’. In the bottom right corner, you can add your chart by clicking on the blue ‘+ Charts’ button.
